Briefly: Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Frank Black
About 200 US movie theaters will screen the Beastie Boys ' concert film "Awesome: I F---in' Shot That" on March 23.
The screening will also include a "one-night only" showing of the 30-minute short "A Day in the Life of Nathaniel Hornblower," according to a press release. Ticket information and a list of theaters showing the film is posted at www.bigscreenconcerts.com.
The film's limited theatrical release is scheduled to open the following week.
Though Black Sabbath isn't scheduled to perform during their official induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday (3/13), Metallica will be on hand to perform a set of Sabbath songs.
Pixies frontman/guitarist Frank Black will issue a two-CD album dubbed "Fastman/Raiderman" on June 20.
The 27-song set follows 2005's "Honeycomb," and was recorded over a two-year period at studios in Nashville and Los Angeles.
"Honeycomb" producer Jon Tiven also produced the forthcoming album, which features appearances by The Band's Levon Helm, Cheap Trick's Tom Petersson and Al Kooper, as well as "Honeycomb" returnees Steve Cropper, Reggie Young, Buddy Miller and Chester Thompson, among others.
