A jury has found that the title track to "Ready to Die," late rapper The Notorious B.I.G. [ tickets ]'s 1994 breakthrough album, uses an Ohio Players sample without permission. As a result, a judge has ordered a halt to sales of the album.

The Nashville jury also awarded $4.2 million in damages to two companies that own the rights to Ohio Players recordings, according to published reports.

Exactly how or when the sales ban would be enacted was unclear at press time; the album was still on sale via several online and digital retailers.
