Briefly: Notorious B.I.G., Kid's Choice Awards, Ryan Cabrera, Supernova
A jury has found that the title track to "Ready to Die," late rapper The Notorious B.I.G. 's 1994 breakthrough album, uses an Ohio Players sample without permission. As a result, a judge has ordered a halt to sales of the album.
The Nashville jury also awarded $4.2 million in damages to two companies that own the rights to Ohio Players recordings, according to published reports.
Exactly how or when the sales ban would be enacted was unclear at press time; the album was still on sale via several online and digital retailers.
Pink , Bow Wow and Chris Brown are among the artists scheduled to perform during the 19th annual Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards, set for April 1. Jack Black will host the ceremony.
Pop singer Ryan Cabrera gave a free Saturday (3/18) performance in the parking lot of Wal-Mart's 2,000th "Supercenter," which is scheduled to open its doors Wednesday (3/22) in Beaumont, CA, a desert town located 80 miles east of Los Angeles.
The second season of the CBS-TV reality series "Rock Star" will focus on the lead-singer search of Supernova, a new band featuring Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted.
INXS chose new frontman J.D. Fortune last year, during the inaugural season of "Rock Star."
