Briefly: Dixie Chicks, Korn, Pio Leyva, Head Automatica
"Not Ready to Make Nice," the first single from the Dixie Chicks ' forthcoming album, "Taking the Long Way," is now streaming at the trio's website.
The song addresses the death threats the group endured in 2003 after singer Natalie Maines publicly criticized president George W. Bush.
Among the song's lyrics, which are also posted on the site: "And how in the world can the words that I said / Send somebody so over the edge / That they'd write me a letter / Sayin' that I better shut up and sing / Or my life will be over."
Korn is set to issue a new album dubbed "Live & Rare" on May 9. Among the cuts are nine tracks culled from a 2003 gig at New York's CBGB and a live cover of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall." Other tracks include a covers of Cheech & Chong's "Earache My Eye" and Metalica's "One."
Pio Leyva, a member of the Buena Vista Social Club Cuban musical group, reportedly died Thursday (3/23) in Havana, a few days after suffering a stroke. He was 88.
"Popaganda," the sophomore release from New York-based rockers Head Automatica is due in stores June 6, according to Warner Bros. Records.
"I really wanted to make music you might've heard in the UK in the late-'70s to early-'80s," frontman Daryl Palumbo said in a press release. "'Popaganda' is our interpretation and homage to that great musical period."
Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects) produced the set.
