Sammy Hagar To Chop Off His Hair For Charity
Sammy Hagar will cut his red tresses on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Nov. 12, and will donate them to a charity that makes hairpieces for children who lose their hair during medical treatments, according to Hagar's official website.
Using donated hair of at least 10 inches in length, Florida-based Locks Of Love provides hairpieces free of charge or on a sliding scale to financially disadvantaged children.
Hagar and his backup band The WaboRitas are currently on the road in support of the album ''Red Voodoo'' (MCA). Hagar released the album in February -- along with his own Cabo Wabo brand of tequila -- and has been touring heavily ever since.
During the tour, Hagar has been playing songs from the new album as well as material that dates back more than 25 years to his days as the frontman of Montrose . Also entering into the mix are selections from Hagar's early solo career and songs from his stint as the lead singer of Van Halen .
Hagar celebrated his 52nd birthday on Oct. 13 with a live performance at the Cabo Wabo Cantina, a nightclub he owns in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
