Hoobastank thanks fans with spring tour

Hoobastank is gearing up for the May release of its third album, but the group isn't waiting for the set to hit stores before setting out to play a round of spring concerts.

Billed as the "Every Fan for Himself" fan appreciation tour, according to a press release, the 10-date outing kicks off in mid-April. All of the tickets will be given away for free via local radio contests, local retailers and via Hoobastank's website. More information is posted at the site.

The band also plans to select one local act from each city to open the show. More information is available at the group's website.

Fans who score tickets can expect to hear material from Hoobastank's forthcoming album, "Every Man for Himself," which follows 2003's Grammy-nominated "The Reason." The group began working on the disc last summer with producer Howard Benson (P.O.D., My Chemical Romance), who also oversaw "The Reason."

In addition to the upcoming tour, Hoobastank will help launch "Every Man for Himself" with appearances on the "The Tonight Show" (May 12), "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" (May 16), "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (May 18) and "Last Call with Carson Daly" (May 25), according to Island Records.
