Melissa Etheridge pumps up tour schedule
Etheridge has added stops in a number of new cities, including Las Vegas, where the tour is now scheduled to kick off on June 17--and has also tacked additional nights onto previously announced stops in Chicago, New York, the Boston area and Long Beach, CA.
Tickets for most shows are on sale now, while those for a few others--including a pair of Canadian dates--will hit the box office Saturday (3/29). Details are included below.
Etheridge is touring in support of "Greatest Hits: The Road Less Traveled," which hit stores in October.
On April 8, Etheridge will be awarded the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the 17th annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles. She will make an appearance, but she will not perform. According to a press release, the award is given to an openly gay member of the entertainment or media community for his or her work toward eliminating homophobia.
VH1 will air the program April 15 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) and April 16 at 11 p.m. (ET/PT).
In 2004, Etheridge underwent two cancer surgeries, during which a tumor and some lymph nodes were removed from her breast. Her first public performance following the surgery took place at 2005's Grammy Awards ceremony, where the singer--bald after undergoing chemotherapy--and fellow vocalist Joss Stone sang a tribute to the late Janis Joplin.
Etheridge announced in August of last year that she was "totally cancer free."
