New Replacements best-of to include new tracks

Rhino Records has slotted a June 13 release date for the single-disc retrospective "Don't You Know Who I Think I Was?: The Best of the Replacements."

The 20-track set includes songs from each of the influential '80s rock band's seven albums, as well as a cut from its "Stink" EP. It also features two new tracks, marking the first new Replacements recordings in 15 years.

The two songs, "Message to the Boys" and "Pool & Dive," were written by Replacements frontman/guitarist Paul Westerberg especially for inclusion on the best-of set, according to a press release. Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson reunited last December to record the cuts. Replacements drummer Chris Mars added backing vocals, while Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, The Vandals) played drums.

The press release describes the new songs as "vintage sounding" Replacement songs that could "easily have come off of 'Tim' or 'Pleased To Meet Me,'" two of the Minneapolis group's most lauded albums.
