Aimee Mann to perform with The Boston Pops
Singer/songwriter Aimee Mann will get orchestral backing from The Boston Pops on her upcoming tour as she continues to back last year's "The Forgotten Arm."
Mann's two Boston appearances, on consecutive nights beginning June 28, will receive the full symphony treatment from the venerable Pops orchestra. The pair of shows are slated, appropriately, for Boston's Symphony Hall.
The remainder of the dates on Mann's early summer slate will feature the basic solo acoustic show that the singer has been performing on the road since last winter. After a pair of Los Angeles shows in April, Mann's June outing kicks off with a June 17 concert in Petaluma, CA.
Mann has set up a system where members of her fan club can obtain premium seats for the Boston orchestral performances. Information on the special tickets can be gleaned from the singer's website.
Pre-sale tickets for most shows on the tour can also be obtained by following the links on Mann's website.
"The Forgotten Arm," released nearly one year ago, is Mann's follow-up to 2002's "Lost in Space." She recorded the set in just five days last summer with producer/singer/songwriter Joe Henry.
Backing Mann in the studio were guitarists Jeff Trott (Sheryl Crow) and Julian Coryell, keyboardist Jebin Bruni, bassist Paul Bryan, and drummers Victor Indrizzo and Jay Bellarose.
