Briefly: George Jones, 'Wrestlemania 22,' CMA Music Festival, Katharine Whalen
Country veteran George Jones was hospitalized in Nashville Thursday (3/30), and is being treated for pneumonia, according to a press release.
"Jones is resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery," reads a statement from Jones' label, Bandit Records. "His doctors wanted to take all necessary precautions.
The singer, who is in his mid-'70s, had performances scheduled this weekend in Albany, GA; Panama City, FL; and Chattanooga, TN, all of which are being rescheduled according to Bandit.
Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child and rockers P.O.D. are scheduled to perform at Sunday's (4/2) WWE "WrestleMania 22" in Chicago. According to organizers, Williams is expected to sing "America the Beautiful," and P.O.D. will perform during WWE wrestler Rey Mysterio's entrance.
The event, which will air on pay-per-view, will also feature music from rock trio Danko Jones , whose new cut "Baby Hates Me"--from the forthcoming album "Sleep Is the Enemy"--will be used during the show's opening sequence, according to a press release.
Sugarland, Clint Black, Craig Morgan, Jeff Bates, Earl Thomas Conley, Jack Ingram and Sammy Kershaw are the latest artists to join the roster of acts scheduled to perform during this year's CMA Music Festival Nightly Concerts series.
Previously announced performers include Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Gary Allan, Brooks & Dunn, Terri Clark, Billy Currington, Sara Evans, Pat Green, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Ronnie Milsap with Los Lonely Boys, Montgomery Gentry, Joe Nichols, Brad Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood and Trisha Yearwood.
