Jason Mraz back in the US for May concerts
Jason Mraz , fresh off a world tour that saw him visit the UK, Singapore, Japan and Australia, has lined up several US dates in May.
The singer will pick off where he left off back in December, hitting several cities in the Southeast before finishing up with a few shows further up north. Mraz, who spent two months touring the country last fall, will then head back overseas for dates in the UK, Ireland and Germany.
Complete details of the singer's upcoming overseas itinerary are available at his website.
The short US outing--which kicks off May 5 in Memphis as part of the Beale Street Music Festival--includes a single acoustic performance, May 5 in Birmingham, AL.
Mraz is backing his July release, "Mr. A-Z," which he recorded with producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Rolling Stones) at Allaire Studios near Woodstock, NY, as well as at his home studio in San Diego.
"Steve is so unconventional in his method of recording and producing," Mraz said of Lillywhite in a statement. "He goes into each album he produces with no preconceptions whatsoever. In a sense, he became a member of the band, adding an experienced ear and voice to our thought processes. He knows how to bring the best out of the players and capture a solid live take which becomes the belly of the track.
"Over the course of recording 'MR. A-Z,' Steve taught me many things that will resonate throughout my recording career, but there was one particular thing that makes a lot of sense in this current scenario. 'An artist should never have to explain what the songs are about,' he said. 'The listener will determine that for themselves.'"
