Bob Dylan confirms more shows with Merle Haggard
Bob Dylan , who launched his spring tour on Saturday (4/1), continues tacking dates onto the run, which also features Merle Haggard .
New stops throughout the South extend the outing into mid-May, and tickets for a number of dates will go on sale in the coming days. Details are included below.
The first four shows on Dylan's trek--the third of which he'll play tonight (4/4) in Santa Rosa, CA--feature the legendary folk singer and his band, sans Haggard. Almost all of the subsequent stops, including the new May shows, are billed as Bob Dylan and His Band with Merle Haggard and The Strangers.
Dylan's most recent studio set is 2001's "Love and Theft." During the five years since, he has released a number of works, the most recent of which is last year's seventh edition of Columbia's Bob Dylan "Bootleg Series." Dubbed "No Direction Home: The Soundtrack," the album is the audio companion to filmmaker Martin Scorsese's Dylan documentary, which aired last September on PBS, and is narrated by Dylan. The program was released on DVD that same month.
"No Direction Home: The Soundtrack" is a two-disc, chronologically sequenced collection that features 28 Dylan tracks, all of which were recorded between 1959 and 1966, and 26 of which were previously unreleased.
Dylan reportedly is expected to issue a new album later this year, but no official announcement has been made
Haggard's latest album, "Chicago Wind," is a collection of originals that features a mix of ballads--like "Leavin's Not the Only Way to Go" and "What I've Been Meaning to Say"--and politically charged tracks, such as "Rebuild America First" and "Where's All the Freedom."
