Chris Tomlin claims five Dove Awards
Singer/songwriter Chris Tomlin garnered five Dove Awards , including Artist of the Year, to dominate Wednesday night's (4/5) GMA Music Awards, the Gospel Music Association's 37th annual honors.
Tomlin's take for the night included trophies for Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as Song of the Year and Worship Song of the Year ("How Great is Our God"). His fifth Dove was for his collaboration on the Special Event Album of the Year, "Music Inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."
Other artists who won multiple awards included Ed Cash--Tomlin's producer and co-writer--with four, and David Crowder and his producer Tedd T with three each.
Steven Curtis Chapman added his 50th Dove to his trophy case for his contribution to the "Chronicles of Narnia" project.
Hosted by Rebecca St. James and Kirk Franklin , the GMA Music Awards took place at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The awards show will air in national syndication April 15 through May 21.
