Willie Nelson blankets North America with tour dates

Willie Nelson will keep tallying up the miles during his ongoing tour, which now stretches deep into the summer.

Nelson--who, more often than not, is in the midst of a tour--wraps up his latest batch of shows Friday (4/7) in Fayetteville, NC, and then takes a short break before launching a Canadian trek later this month. After wrapping up his tour of the Great White North in mid-May, he'll spend the remainder of that month working his way through the Northeastern US.

The country legend has also lined up a handful of July, August and September shows, which likely are the skeleton of a full-blown summer tour. Details are included below.

In addition to touring almost non-stop, Nelson remains a prolific recording artist. His most recent is last July's "Countryman," which was produced by Don Was (The Rolling Stones) and Richard Feldman. The set, more than a decade in the making, is a reggae/country album that includes a mix of reggae covers and Nelson originals.

Last fall, Nelson opened Willie's Place, an 850-seat concert hall located at Carl's Corner, a famous truck stop just south of Dallas on highway I-35. The station sells BioWillie, a brand of biodiesel fuel that Nelson has been using in his tour bus for some time.

On Monday (4/4), Nelson and actor Morgan Freeman--both of whom are on the board of directors of Earth Biofuels--were on hand at a Dallas-based fuel-distribution terminal for an announcement that Motiva Enterprises LLC, a major petroleum refiner, would begin distributing a blended fuel made by combining the soy-based biodiesel with traditional motor fuel.
