Sarah McLachlan To Play First Post-Lilith Show With Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow 's lengthy run on Sarah McLachlan 's Lilith Fair has set the stage for a prompt return of the favor. McLachlan has been added to a growing all-star bill at Crow's upcoming free concert in New York's Central Park. Both Crow and McLachlan closed down Lilith Fair -- possibly for good -- Tuesday (8/31) in Edmonton.

''Sheryl Crow and Friends, including Eric Clapton'' will take place Sept. 14 at Central Park's East Meadow. Concert sponsor American Express will distribute about 12,500 pairs of free tickets to the show via an instant lottery-type game. Tickets will be distributed in New York during the week before the show, and the concert will be broadcast live on the Fox television network, radio and the Internet. Other performers are yet to be announced.

Crow had intended to take part in the 1998 edition of Lilith Fair, but bowed out citing exhaustion and recording commitments. She made good on her planned participation by signing on for the full tour, minus just two shows, this year.

Lilith Fair was unveiled in 1997, and played 40 dates this summer. Despite the tour's continued box office success, McLachlan has said that she intends to give Lilith Fair a rest, and may scrap the idea for good. She reportedly plans to take time off to write, record and possibly start a family.
