Madonna rolls out additional shows
Tickets for Madonna 's upcoming "Confessions" tour continued to hit the market Monday (4/10), with strong ticket sales leading to extended stands in New York City, Montreal, the Phoenix area, Boston and Miami.
The pop icon is currently scheduled to play four shows at New York's Madison Square Garden (up from two initially announced gigs), and has also added second shows at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden, the Phoenix area's Glendale Arena, Montreal's Bell Centre and Miami's American Airlines Arena.
Earlier this weekend, additional shows were announced for the Los Angeles area, Chicago and Fresno, CA. The current itinerary and upcoming on-sale dates are listed below; most shows are already sold out, according to promoters.
Madonna is gearing up for a world tour behind her latest album, last year's "Confessions on a Dance Floor." Jamie King, one of the singer's longtime collaborators, will direct the "Confessions Tour," and Stuart Price will again be on board as musical director, according to a press release.
Arianne Phillips and Jean Paul Gaultier, long-standing members of Madonna's creative team, will respectively oversee and design costumes for the tour.
Following her tour's North American leg, Madonna heads across the pond for a European trek, details about which are posted at the tour's official website. Tickets for the Euro leg went on sale this past weekend, and sold out in 10 minutes, according to information posted at Madonna's website.
As previously reported, Madonna will warm up for her headlining trek with an April 30 set at this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
Released last November, "Confessions on a Dance Floor" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 1.3 million copies in the US to date, according to Warner Bros. Records. Sales have been fueled in part by the hit single "Sorry."
