Wolfmother plots tour around debut US release
Proto-metal trio Wolfmother will celebrate the release of their self-titled debut album with an April 29 appearance California's Coachella music festival, then launch their own headlining tour in support of the disc.
After the album's May 2 release date, the Australian band will kick off their 20-city tour May 6 in Dallas. The band's itinerary includes an April 26 slot at the Sasquatch music festival in George, WA.
Wolfmother's self-titled debut was produced by D. Sardy (Oasis, Dandy Warhols), and has been certified double platinum in Australia.
The album was voted "Album of the Year" by Australia's alternative radio network, Triple J.
The band's members--Andrew Stockdale (guitar/vocals), Chris Ross (bass/keyboards). and Myles Heskett (drums)--came together in 2000 and spent several years together "jamming in anonymity," according to their online bio, before playing their first shows before an audience in 2004.
Wolfmother's first, self-titled EP appeared later in 2004, and was followed by this year's "Dimensions" EP, an American-only release which was issued in January to test the waters for the band's debut long-player.
