Collective Soul backs live set with roadwork

Collective Soul , who earlier this year issued a live box set titled "Home: A Live Concert Recording with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra," will support the release with a round of late-spring concerts.

The band's outing begins in late May, and dates are lined up through mid-June, most of which are set on the East Coast. Details are shown below.

Meanwhile, frontman Ed Roland and guitarist Joel Kosche are scheduled to give a Saturday (4/29) performance in Portland, OR, as part of an Amnesty International benefit. Hosted by actress Mira Sorvino, the event will also feature Suzanne Vega and the 30-piece March Forth Marching Band and Youth Movement, according to Collective Soul's website.

Released in February, "Home" is a two-disc, one-DVD set that captures Collective Soul's April 2005 concert in its hometown of Atlanta with the city's Symphony Youth Orchestra. The 20-song collection spans 90 minutes and features hits culled from Collective Soul's seven studio albums.

"Working with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra was really a unique experience," Roland said in a press release. "I never imagined that all of these young musicians could make our songs sound so beautiful in the most classic sense."

In addition to "Home," Collective Soul continues to back 2004's "Youth," its first new studio set since 2000's "Blender." The disc features the cuts "Counting the Days," "Better Now" and "How Do You Love."

Collective Soul, which formed in 1992, made a name for itself with a batch of '90s-era hits, including "December," "Shine," "The World I Know," "Gel," "Blame" and "Precious Declaration." The band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, according to its publicist.
