Barenaked Ladies map out US, Canadian tours
Canadian alt-pop outfit Barenaked Ladies , who last week unveiled a handful of fall concert dates, have unveiled the details of a late-2006 run through the US, and an early 2007 jaunt through their home country.
The group's US itinerary launches Oct. 21 in Uncasville, CT, and stops are lined up in about two-dozen cities through early December. The group will then take some time off before tackling an 18-date February tour through their native Canada.
Sandwiched between the US and Canadian outings is a mid-January stint aboard a Carnival cruise-ship excursion. Dubbed Ships and Dip, the five-day journey--which sets sail from, and returns to, Ft. Lauderdale, FL--will feature "intimate solo shows to jam sessions to a rollicking karaoke party with BNL," according to the Ships and Dip website. Joining BNL on board the ship will be Guster, Brothers Creeggan, Thinbuckle and others.
All of the activity supports BNL's new album, "Barenaked Ladies Are Me," which hits the market today (9/12). The disc, which is the inaugural release on the band's newly formed label, features the lead-off single "Easy." That song, as well as three others--"Wind It up," "Bank Job" and "Sound of Your Voice"--are currently streaming at the group's MySpace webpage.
To help launch "Barenaked Ladies Are Me," BNL will give a live performance of "Easy" during tomorrow's (9/13) episode of ABC-TV's "Live! With Regis & Kelly," according to a press release. The group's plans also include a Sept. 21 performance in Denver that will be taped and aired during a future episode of the syndicated radio program eTown. More information is available at the eTown website.
