Billy Talent to lead Canadian punk trek
Canadian punk revivalists Billy Talent will lead a contingent of fellow punk rockers on a 13-city onslaught through the Great White North beginning in late January.
The Ontario foursome--who continue to back their sophomore effort, "Billy Talent II," which hit stores back in June--will be joined on the north-of-the-border excursion by Rise Against , Anti-Flag and Moneen .
The 13-date arena tour kicks off Jan. 18 in Victoria, British Columbia, and will sweep from left to right across the country, culminating in a few shows closer to the band's home province in early February. Tickets for all shows are currently on sale.
After finishing up its Canadian trek, Billy Talent will head to Europe for a few dates. The band's full European schedule can be found on its website.
The band released its self-titled debut in 2003, and then took a break from touring and recording before issuing "II" last year.
"We took some time off, spent time with our friends, family and all the different people that we need to be connected with,"singer Ben Kowalewicz said in the band's online bio. "You need to have things to write about, you need real life to give you things to write about. I'm not going to write about touring up and down the highway."
Politically charged punk veterans Anti-Flag released their seventh studio album, "For Blood and Empire," last March.
Chicago melodic punk quartet Rise Against issued their fourth full-length, "The Sufferer & the Witness," last July, while Canadian emo foursome Moneen is still backing the April release of its third studio album, "The Red Tree."
