Briefly: Nine Inch Nails, Limp Bizkit, Audioslave, CMA Music Festival
Nine Inch Nails ' Trent Reznor is letting fans take a crack at retooling "The Hand That Feeds," the first single from the group's forthcoming album, "With Teeth."
Those interested can visit NIN's website, where Reznor has posted a downloadable version of the song formatted for use with Apple Computer's GarageBand recording-studio software.
"For quite some time I've been interested in the idea of allowing you the ability to tinker around with my tracks--to create remixes, experiment, embellish or destroy what's there," Reznor wrote in a message that accompanies the download. "... Change the tempo. Add new loops. Chop up the vocals. Turn me into a woman. Replay the guitar. Anything you'd like.
"I'm interested to see what comes of it, what issues are raised and what the results are. Have fun."
Limp Bizkit fans eager to see what the band has been up to in the recording studio with once-departed-since-returned guitarist Wes Borland should head over to the band's minimalist website, which features streaming video of the group performing a new cut titled "The Truth."
Audioslave --a.k.a. former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and former Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums)--in addition to cuts from its 2002 debut and forthcoming sophomore effort, is performing Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine material during its in-progress tour.
The band--which stuck to cuts from its self-titled debut during its inaugural outing--rolled out Soundgarden's "Spoonman," "Black Hole Sun" and "Outshined," as well as Rage Against the Machine's "Sleep Now In the Fire," "Testify" and "Killing in the Name" during the current tour's April 14 kick-off in Las Vegas.
Diamond Rio and Blake Shelton are the latest artists to join the roster of acts scheduled to give nightly concerts during this year's annual CMA Music Festival in Nashville.
Other acts slated to perform include Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Big & Rich, with a special guest appearance by Cowboy Troy, Sara Evans, Josh Gracin, Jo Dee Messina, Craig Morgan, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Julie Roberts, Travis Tritt, Keith Urban, Phil Vassar, Gretchen Wilson, and Lee Ann Womack.
More information about the event--which takes place June 9-12--is available at the festival's website.
