Butch Walker plots 'Rise' of late summer tour

Singer/songwriter and erstwhile record producer Butch Walker has mapped out a late summer tour in support of his just-released solo effort, "The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonites."
Walker, who has spent the last couple years producing and writing for others (Avril Lavigne, Pink), will kick things off July 18 in Atlanta, with his recently formed Let's Go Out Tonites in tow for a 16-city trek across the country.

The self-proclaimed "indie glam rocker" will hit small theaters and clubs on his tour, with a stretch of West Coast capping the outing in mid-September.
"The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonites," Walker's third solo album since leaving his old band, Marvelous 3 (who scored a minor hit, "Freak of the Week," in 1998), several years back, follows 2004's "Letters."
"My last record was the guy in the corner of the bar, crying in his beer because his girlfriend dumped him the night before," Walker said in a press release. "This record is the guy who walks in the bar, lights the girl's cigarette, then gets drunk and dances on top of the bar 'til 6 am."
Streaming versions of several cuts from the album can be heard on Walker's MySpace site.
