Cam'ron shot during apparent carjacking attempt

Following a brief hospital stay over the weekend in Washington, DC, New York-based rapper Cam'ron is at home recovering from bullet wounds to both arms, which he suffered when two armed men apparently tried to steal his Lamborghini.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday morning (10/23), Cam'ron--real name Cameron Giles--had just departed Washington, DC, nightclub H20, and was driving his royal blue 2006 Lamborghini when he became separated from his security, according to a press release. He was stopped at a traffic light when two men in a burgundy Ford Expedition SUV allegedly pulled up alongside his car and attempted to carjack him.

Giles, 29, claims he refused to give up his car, and alleges that the would-be thieves then opened fire, at which time one of the bullets traveled through one of his arms and struck him in the other. He apparently drove himself to Howard University Hospital, where he was admitted and treated for bullet wounds, and was released about 12 hours later.

"People are foolish if they think I'm going to lose my head and give up anything to anyone just because someone threatens me," Giles said in a statement that he issued on Monday morning (10/24). "I'm doing OK. It takes more than a botched carjacking to keep me down."

Giles has been working on his next album, "Killa Season," which is due out on his own Diplomat Records imprint in February. A film of the same name will land in theaters at the same time, according to Giles's publicist.
