Interpol maps summer tour to 'Admire' new album
Alt-rockers Interpol , currently finishing up a late-spring outing, will mount another headlining tour this summer as the band looks to back a brand new studio album.
The New Yorkers, whose "Our Love to Admire" ships July 10 in the US, will kick things off July 19 in Rochester. NY, the first of 14 cities the band will hit as it works behind the new disc. The summer lineup also includes an Aug. 4 appearance at Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival.
The group also has a number of spring tour dates lined up before the summer outing can roll, including its May 27 appearance at the Sasquatch! festival in George, WA. The full schedule of shows, both pre- and post-album release, is included below.
"Our Love to Admire," the band's third studio album, follows its critical and popular breakthrough set, 2004's "Antics." "The Heinrich Maneuver," the first single from the new album, was released in early May.
Formed in 1998, Interpol's current lineup has been in place since 2000. The group scored a big break when its sound--which owes much to post-punkers Joy Division--caught the ear of the late BBC Radio host John Peel, who featured the group on his program in 2001. As a result of that early exposure, the band remains a popular draw throughout much of Europe.
