Interpol marks calendar for fall outing
New York rockers Interpol have announced dates for an upcoming fall tour of 18 North American cities.
After three dates in Mexico, the band will hit the stage Sept. 9 at the Nokia Center in Dallas, marking its move from the smaller clubs it played earlier in the year to mostly mid-size and larger venues.
Interpol is currently finishing up a busy international outing which finds the band playing several dates in Australia and New Zealand. Details of the band's overseas jaunt can be found at Interpol's website.
The band is still touring on the strength of its second full-length album, "Antics," which was released in September 2004 to wide critical acclaim. The album followed 2002's debut, "Turn on the Bright Lights."
Formed in 1998, Interpol's current lineup has been in place since 2000. The group scored a big break when its sound--which owes much to post-punkers Joy Division--caught the ear of the late BBC Radio host John Peel, who featured the group on his program in 2001. As a result of that early exposure, the band remains a popular draw throughout much of Europe.
