Kem pencils in additional concerts
R&B singer and Detroit native Kem has rolled out a number of new dates for his winter tour, which kicks off early next month with a hometown performance that coincides with the city's Super Bowl festivities.
Set for Feb. 4, the Detroit gig is part of the Motown Winter Blast, a four-day event that will feature concerts, family-oriented attractions, a street party and more. Additional information is available at the event's website.
From there, Kem will set out on the US theater circuit for a trek that so far stretches into late March, and now includes a number of new February and March dates. Details are included below.
In addition to lining up some new dates, the singer has also postponed a previously announced March 1 performance in West Palm Beach, FL. A new date for the show has not yet been announced.
Kem's outing--which is dubbed the "Find Your Way" tour, the title of his current hit single--supports his latest release, last May's "Album II." The set features a number of guests, including Stevie Wonder, who contributes harmonica to the song "You Might Win."
Motown Records recently released an updated version of "Album II" that includes the original album, as well as a DVD featuring concert footage, behind-the-scenes clips, interviews and more.
Kem's debut album, 2003's "Kemistry," has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping more than 500,000 copies in the US.
Before landing a record deal, Kem was homeless, and supported himself and his family by waiting tables and singing Top 40 cover songs at weddings, according to a press release. He independently financed and released his first album before signing with Motown in 2002.
