Kenny Chesney taps Dierks Bentley for spring tour
Country sensation Kenny Chesney will back his latest album, "The Road & the Radio," during a spring run on the U.S. arena circuit.
Chesney plans to hit the road in late March with show-openers Sugarland and Dierks Bentley in tow, and dates are set through late May. Venues for some stops have not yet been announced. Details are included in the itinerary below.
Released in November, "The Road & The Radio" is the second of two albums that Chesney offered up last year; the first, "Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair," surfaced last January. Both discs debuted atop The Billboard 200 album chart.
"To make this record, [I] really had to dig deeper than I knew I could and stay in the moment because there were times we were working on faith, when I wasn’t sure it was gonna come together," Chesney, in a press release, said of making "The Road & The Radio." "It's sometimes harder when you know what you want 'cause you can tell when you're not getting there, but it also gives you something to steer by. As long as you keep your focus and don't give up, you can get there--it's just a matter of believing, and knowing the songs when you hear 'em.
Bentley is backing his sophomore set, last year's "Modern Day Drifter," which follows his platinum-selling, self-titled debut. The newer set debuted at No. 1 on the country albums chart last May, and at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
Sugarland--singer/songwriters Jennifer Nettles, Kristen Hall and Kristian Bush--continues to support its debut set, 2004's "Twice the Speed of Life."
