Ministry, Revolting Cocks book spring tour
Though it's still months away, industrial mavens Ministry and Revolting Cocks have unveiled plans to team up for a spring tour that will bring them to mid-sized theaters.
Dubbed "MasterBaTour 2006," the jaunt is scheduled to kick off May 6 in Ministry lead singer Al Jourgensen's home state of Texas, and will wrap up July 1-2 with a two-night stand in Chicago, where Ministry was founded.
In honor of the group's 25th anniversary, Ministry will issue on Sept. 27 "Rantology," a best-of collection that also features new mixes of eight previously released songs, including "Jesus Built My Hotrod," "Stigmata" and "N.W.O," according to the group's official website. The set will also include live versions of "Thieves" and "The Fall," as well as new song "The Great Satan," a track that will appear on Ministry's forthcoming 2006 album, "Rio Grande Blood."
Ministry's website is offering autographed copies of "Rantology" for the first 1,000 preorders. All fans who preorder the CD will receive online access to "behind the scenes" video clips from the group's 2004 "Evil Doer Tour," Ministry's website said.
The new RevCo release, set for Feb. 14, features Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Stevie Banch (Spyder Baby) and Phildo Owens (Skatenigs/Snow Black), and others. All tracks were produced and co-written by Jourgensen. The revolving group of musicians formulating Jourgensen's side-project Revolting Cocks has included the likes of vocalists Chris Connelly and Luc Van Acker, keyboardist Richard 23, drummer William Rieflin and keyboardist Duane Buford.
Spyder Baby, whose latest CD is "…Bugs Crawl In," is slated to be the tour's opening band. The album, available at CDbaby.com, includes a Jourgensen remix of the song "Bitter."
