Sigur Ros 'Takks' on fresh US tour leg

Iceland's Sigur Ros --fresh off a spate of February US appearances--has added a new leg to its North American tour schedule, starting with an appearance at April's Coachella festival.

The atmospheric indie-rockers will finish off a busy upcoming month with shows in England, Japan and Australia before striking out for an April 29 slot at the two-day Coachella event in Indio, CA. Full details of the band's overseas itinerary can be found at its website.

The band's post-festival outing gets underway May 1 in San Rafael, CA, the first of 10 shows the band has scheduled in the US and Canada during May. Presale tickets for all shows are currently available at the band's website.

"Takk," the band's fourth studio set, was released last September on Geffen Records. According to the group's website, the album was written and recorded over a 20-month period, "a normal period of time, for Sigur Ros at least," said keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson.

"The mood on 'Takk' is more 'anything goes,' singer Jonsi said on the band's website. "We had nothing to lose. We wanted to produce a feeling without trying."

The band's keyboardist, Kjartan Sveinsson, produced the soundtrack for the Oscar-nominated short film "The Last Farm." The film can be purchased for online viewing at the iTunes Store.
