Suspects captured in murder of Bryan Harvey, six others

Two men reportedly were arrested Saturday (1/7) in Philadelphia in connection with seven recent homicides in Richmond, VA, including the murder of former House of Freaks singer/guitarist Bryan Harvey and his family.

According to local news reports, Ray Joseph Dandridge and his uncle, Ricky "Cooley" Gray, both 28, have been charged with conspiracy to commit the Jan. 1 murders of Harvey, his wife, and their two young daughters; as well as the Jan. 6 killings in South Richmond of a man, his wife and her adult daughter.

Firefighters discovered the Harveys in the basement of their home, bound with their throats slashed, when they responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at the family's home. The second family reportedly was also bound, though police haven't revealed causes of death in those cases.

At this point, police reportedly believe that the murder of the Harvey family was random, and that the motive appears to be robbery.

The Times-Dispatch, citing police witnesses, reported that the young woman killed in the second incident may have been an accomplice to the murder of the Harveys, as well as some other recent home-invasion robberies in the area.

Harvey released an EP and three albums as a member of the college-rock duo House of Freaks, which disbanded in 1992.
