The Fray plots West Coast-heavy July tour
Colorado alt-rockers The Fray have mapped out a few weeks of headlining dates this summer as they continue to support their 2005 debut, "How to Save a Life."
The foursome will tackle a slot at the July 6 Summerfest music festival in Milwaukee, then kick off their headlining trek July 11 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The majority of the dates are set for West Coast venues, with a three-night stand in Chicago capping the outing late in the month.
Epic labelmates Augustana, whose debut album, "All the Stars and Boulevards," hit stores last year, will accompany The Fray on the road and provide opening support.
"How to Save a Life," the band's debut album, hit stores in September. The band (vocalist Isaac Slade, guitarist Joe King, guitarist Dave Welsh and drummer Ben Wysocki) formed in Denver in 2002 when old schoolmates Slade and Wysocki bumped into each other by chance at a record store, according to the band's bio.
The Fray's demo recordings began getting airplay on local stations, and the band was voted Best New Band by Denver's Westword magazine, leading to the members signing with Epic Records in 2004.
