Zero 7 plants 'Garden' dates
British electronica/pop duo Zero 7 has mapped out out a short, North American summer tour in support of its recently released third album, "The Garden."
The pair--producer/musicians Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns--will be backed on the tour by a full band, including vocalists Sia Furler and Jose Gonzalez, both of whom are featured heavily on the album.
The 13-city tour will kick off Aug. 26 in San Diego, and includes a number of festival appearances, starting with the Aug. 27 installment of radio station KCRW's ongoing World Festival in Los Angeles.
"The Garden," which hit stores June 6, is the duo's third studio effort, and the follow-up to 2004's "When it Falls." The set features vocal efforts from both Sia and Gonzalez, as well as Binns' vocal debut on several tracks.
Hardaker and Binns first garnered attention as studio engineers in the late '90s, working with artists such as Robert Plant and The Pet Shop Boys. The duo then formed Zero 7--named after a nightclub in Honduras--early this decade, releasing their debut, "Simple Things," in 2001.
The pair contributed "In the Waiting Line" to the Grammy-winning soundtrack of the 2004 film "Garden State."
