AFI prepares for 'Crash Love'

Alt-rockers AFI will follow up their chart-topping 2006 album, "Decemberunderground," with their impending release, "Crash Love," the California outfit's eighth studio set.

The quartet--comprised of singer Davey Havok, drummer Adam Carson, bassist Hunter Burgan and guitarist Jade Puget--will unveil the new Interscope Records effort on Sept. 29.

"Honestly, I've never been more proud of an AFI record," Havok said in a press release. "We are thrilled to hear it come to life."

"Crash Love," produced by Joe McGrath (Morrissey, Alkaline Trio) and Jacknife Lee (U2, Weezer), took the band two years to finish at Los Angeles' Conway Studios. The group held an online contest earlier this year, offering fans the opportunity to participate on the new album if their video submission was selected. From thousands of entrants, AFI selected a handful of winners who contributed background vocals to the new release.
