AFI tacks more shows onto 'Crash Love' excursion

Before setting out on an Australian run in February, AFI will take on a slew of fall and winter concerts behind the group's September release, "Crash Love."

The alt-punk outfit will climb on tour bus for a Nov. 9 stop in Detroit, followed by shows in 29 cities throughout the US and parts of Canada. The club and amphitheater trek runs through early next year, concluding with a Jan. 31 performance in Las Vegas. More information is shown below.

"Crash Love," the quartet's eighth studio effort, surfaced in September. Produced by Joe McGrath and Jacknife Lee, and two years in the making, the most recent effort has been called AFI's most focused, direct and ambitious effort to date. The set follows two consecutive platinum AFI albums: 2006's "Decemberunderground," which entered the US chart at No. 1, and 2003's "Sing the Sorrow."

"I feel like, from one album to the next, we have evolved in our songwriting and musical interests and what we're trying to do," bassist Hunter Burgan said in a recent interview with LiveDaily. "I think this one is more than just an evolution from the previous album. I think it also embodies a lot of the energy from the earlier albums. I think it definitely fits in very well with the catalog. It's almost like we're showing off everything we've learned in our career in one album."

Earlier this week, AFI released an exclusive live demo of "Torch Song," the most recent record's opening track, at Google's Lala music platform.

The alt-rockers are also set to unveil a five-song pack for the "Rock Band" video game on Nov. 17. The downloadable set will include "Love Like Winter," "The Leaving Song Pt. II," "Beautiful Thieves," "End Transmission" and "Medicate," according to a press release.
