Akon pleads guilty to tossing a fan from stage

Akon pleaded guilty to harassment yesterday (12/17) for throwing a fan off the stage during a June 2007 concert in Fishkill, NY, and allegedly causing another fan in the crowd to suffer a concussion, according to People.com.

The performer must pay a $250 fine and perform 65 hours of community service, according to an Associated Press report.

Akon was facing misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment in the incident, which was caught on tape and posted to the Internet.

Last year, Akon disputed he threw the teenager off the stage and entered a not-guilty plea in the case.

He reportedly declined to comment on the plea as he left court on Wednesday.
