Britney Spears [ tickets ]' new set, "Circus," sold 505,000 copies during its first week in US stores, enough to give the resurgent star the fifth No. 1 album of her career.

"Circus" easily held of Taylor Swift [ tickets ]'s "Fearless," which spends its second consecutive week at No. 2 on The Billboard 200. Billboard bases its flagship album chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail reports.

Moving up one notch this week to No. 3 is Beyonce [ tickets ]'s "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," which sold 153,000 copies over the past week. Kanye West [ tickets ]'s "808 & Heartbreak" falls from No. 1 to No. 4 on sales of 142,000. Nickelback [ tickets ]'s "Dark Horse" sold 133,000 copies and moves up two slots to No. 5, according to Billboard.

Rounding out the Top 10 are the "Twilight" soundtrack at No. 6, Akon [ tickets ]'s "Freedom" at No. 7, the High School Musical 3: Senior Year" soundtrack at No. 8, the "NOW 29" hits compilation at No. 9 and David Cook [ tickets ]'s self-titled debut at No. 10.
