Alien Ant Farm returns with new album
Alien Ant Farm , a group that has been faced with some sizable obstacles in recent years, plans to get back on the map with this summer's release of its third major-label album, "Up in the Attic."
Scheduled for release on July 25, the new disc is the group's first since 2003's "truANT," and is also the first since that year's departure of guitarist Terry Corso. Corso's permanent replacement, Joe Hill, appears on the forthcoming set.
In addition to parting with Corso, Alien Ant Farm's rocky road over the past few years included a deadly 2002 bus accident that killed the group's driver and left frontman Dryden Mitchell with a broken spine.
"We've been through so much, both triumph and defeat," Mitchell said in a statement issued Monday (5/15). "But it's been cool that we've kept our fans. I'd do this forever. We're having fun."
Produced by Jim Wirt (Live, L.A. Guns, Incubus) and mixed by Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, Coal Chamber), "Up in the Attic" features the cut "Forgive & Forget," which is due to hit radio stations early next month. The album's complete track list appears below.
In addition to dropping "Up in the Attic" on July 25, the group also plans to release its first DVD that same day. Titled "BUSted," the disc will feature live footage, as well as 10 music videos, five of which are previously unreleased. The flick also includes behind-the-scenes coverage of the band.
Alien Ant Farm broke through with its 2001 debut, "ANThology," and that album's hit single, "Smooth Criminal," a cover of the Michael Jackson original. The platinum-certified disc has sold nearly 2 million copies, according to Universal Music Enterprises.
