Amy Winehouse off Coachella bill

Amy Winehouse has bowed out of her scheduled appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA, because she is facing an assault charge in London.

Winehouse, who was charged last week for allegedly attacking a fan in September at a London party, had been scheduled to perform on April 18, the second day of the three-day festival.

It is believed Winehouse had begun the process of getting a work visa to travel to the US for the festival, but had yet to make a full application, according to a People report. However, a spokesperson for the singer only confirmed that she could not attend Coachella "because of current legal issues."

Winehouse reportedly is due in court next week.

Last year, Winehouse was unable to secure a visa to enter the US to attend the Grammy awards.
