Annuals up the 'Fun' on winter club tour

Indie-rockers Annuals have finalized dates for an early 2009 headlining tour to support their sophomore album release, "Some Fun."

The group, which toured the US recently with Minus the Bear, returns to the road Jan. 20 in Minneapolis, MN. New dates announced for the trek include a fresh West Coast leg, as well as a Jan. 25 show in Montreal. Now swollen to 26 cities, the tour runs through the very end of February, concluding with a Feb. 28 appearance in Denver, CO. Details are shown below.

The band's second album, "Some Fun," hit stores in October. The set was co-produced by Annuals' frontman Adam Baker and producer Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Tom Waits).

"Some Fun" follows the group's 2006 debut, "Be He Me," which garnered the band a huge online following, as well as a slot at Lollapalooza.

To tide over fans waiting for a full-length follow-up, Annuals released the "Wet Zoo" EP this spring. The five-song set is actually a split EP featuring three Annuals tunes and an introduction to the band members' side project Sunfold. The EP's lead track, "Sore," is streaming at the Annuals' MySpace page.

Three of Annuals' members--Baker (vocals/multi-instrumentalist), Kenny Florence (lead guitar/backing vocals) and Mike Robinson (bassist/backing vocals)--started playing together almost 10 years ago while they were still in grade school, according to the band's bio. The lineup was solidified in 2005 with Zack Oden (drums/guitar), Donzel Radford (drums/percussion) and Anna Spence (keyboard/piano/backing vocals).
