Arctic Monkeys return to US for quick jaunt
After spending most of the summer and early fall on a US road trip, alt-rockers Arctic Monkeys will return stateside between international legs for a six-pack of club shows in support of the recently released "Humbug."
The British band will kick off the short US run with a Dec. 6 appearance in Chicago, followed by five performances in major markets along the East Coast, and will wrap up the trip with a Dec. 14 show in Montreal. Details are below.
Arctic Monkeys, who will spend November touring the UK and the first two months of 2010 traipsing through Europe, released "Humbug" in August. The new set marks the band's third studio set and first since 2007's "Favorite Worst Nightmare."
The group worked with co-producers James Ford (Klaxons, Last Shadow Puppets) and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age on the album, which was recorded both in New York with Ford and on Homme's home turf of Los Angeles and the Mojave Desert.
The video for Arctic Monkeys' latest single, "Cornerstone," is currently streaming at the band's MySpace page.
Arctic Monkeys formed in Sheffield, England, in 2003, about one year after singer/guitarist Alex Turner and guitarist Jamie Cook, both teenagers at the time, received their first guitars as Christmas presents. The four-piece rock outfit released its debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not," in 2006.
