Avril Lavigne retains No. 1 spot

Avril Lavigne 's "The Best Damn Thing" sold about 122,000 copies during its most recent week in stores and hangs onto the top position on the US album chart.

The young pop-rocker's latest set holds off R&B singer Joe 's sixth album, "Ain't Nothing Like Me," which sold 98,000 copies in its debut week to claim the No. 2 spot on The Billboard 200 chart. Nine Inch Nails ' "Year Zero" falls one notch to No. 3 with 58,000 copies sold, according to Billboard, which bases its chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail reports.

The "NOW 24" hits compilation falls one place to No. 4 on sales of 55,000, while Daughtry 's self-titled debut album moves up two spots to No. 5 with 49,000 copies sold.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Akon 's "Konvicted," Arctic Monkeys' "Favourite Worst Nightmare," Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" and Martina McBride's "Waking Up Laughing."
