Industrial alt-rock supergroup Black Light Burns [ tickets ], the new band led by former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, released its debut album today (6/5) and will support it with a US tour.

The trek launches this week in Los Angeles and will hit cities from coast to coast through early August. Metalcore outfit Horse the Band will open the shows, details for which are listed below.

Black Light Burns' inaugural outing will reveal Borland's new persona as frontman, and include guitarist Nick Annis of Seether, drummer Marshal Kilpatric of Today is the Day and the Esoteric, and a laptop "to wreak ambient havoc," according to a press release.

"Screw it, there's a computer in the band," Borland laughed.

Black Light Burns' debut album, "Cruel Melody," features a second supergroup of musicians: Nine Inch Nails bassist Danny Lohner, A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese and sound designer Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv. The set shows a whole new side of Borland, according to a press release.

"The record starts real aggressively but toward the middle, it gets a little more hurtful and hurting, lyrically, trying to express painful feelings, but still in an aggressive way," Borland explained. "Then it kind of opens up in the end. And that was the purpose: to attack, then explain, then release and be done with it."

Borland has flirted with post-Limp Bizkit projects on and off over the past five years, first with Big Dumb Face, then with his brother Scott in Eat the Day and then with Lohner and Freese in proto-industrial band The Damning Well.

Borland has previously cited his rocky relationship with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst for splitting with that group and has said he has no plans of reuniting with LB.
