Along with handling opening duties for George Strait's in-progress outing, country crooner Blake Shelton [ tickets ] has added a slew of headlining dates to his summer itinerary.

The singer's journey begins Friday (7/10) in Fort Laramie, OH. After a handful of support gigs for Strait in mid- to late-July, Shelton will focus on his headlining run, which will visit fairs and festivals in 25 cities through late October. Details are included below.

The Oklahoma-based country star is supporting his fifth studio album, "Startin' Fires," which hit shelves in November and reached No. 7 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The effort's lead single, "She Wouldn't Be Gone," became Shelton's fifth No. 1 song on the magazine's Hot Country Songs chart.

"I feel like at this point--this is my fifth record--people have finally caught on to my personality and my sense of humor," Shelton told LiveDaily in an interview earlier this year. "It seemed like a natural time to just kind of sing a bunch of songs about my personality and the things I love to do when I'm back home, which are really simple things, like driving back roads, and hunting and fishing and drinking beer, things like that."

Shelton became a regular on the country music scene in 2001 with his gold-certified self-titled debut and its chart-topping single, "Austin."
