Brandi Carlile maps busy start to 2010
Singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile has mapped a lengthy headlining tour to kick off her 2010 campaign in support of her recently released new studio album, "Give Up the Ghost."
The tour gets underway Jan. 12 in Spokane, WA, and runs through a March 19 show in Bellingham, WA. In between the two extremes, Carlile will visit more than 40 cities across North America, including three dates providing opening support for Indigo Girls: Feb. 27 in Orlando, FL; March 1 in Tallahassee, FL and March 2 in Mobile, AL. The complete schedule is included below.
"Give Up the Ghost," Carlile's third studio album, surfaced in early September. The Rick Rubin-produced set includes the track "Caroline," a collaboration with Elton John.
"It was insane," Carlile told the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper in May about working with John, her musical idol. "It was like an out-of-body experience. He's been my hero since I was 11 years old. To get to work with Elton, it was just crazy. I don't even know how to describe it. He was amazing. He nailed the piano in one take. It took him an hour and a half to sing and play piano on this song, and then he stuck around and absolutely schooled me on new music for two hours and gave me a music lesson, basically. It was wonderful."
Carlile's previous album, the T-Bone Burnett-produced "The Story," appeared in 2007.
