Briefly: Chris Cornell, Ryan Adams, Billy Thorpe, Silversun Pickups
Chris Cornell --who last week announced his departure from his post-Soundgarden outfit, Audioslave , and his plans to release his sophomore solo album on May 1--has now pushed the album back until June.
The set, dubbed "Carry On," is now due out June 5, according to Cornell's publicist. No reason for the delay was given.
"Easy Tiger," the latest release from singer/songwriter Ryan Adams , will land in stores June 5, according to his publicist. The set, which will be Adams' ninth full-length collection, follows last year's "29."
In related news, Adams is scheduled to make an April 20 appearance on "The Henry Rollins Show," which airs on the Independent Film Channel (IFC), according to his website.
Australian rock legend Billy Thorpe died of a heart attack on Tuesday (2/27), according to published reports. He was 60.
Thorpe rose to fame fronting the group Billy and the Aztecs. The group had a string of hits in the '60s and '70s.
Thorpe died in a Sydney hospital at around 2:30 a.m.; emergency crews had gone to his home in that city shortly after midnight in response to a report that he was suffering from chest pains, according to the Sydney Herald.
Up-and-coming L.A.-based rockers Silversun Pickups are in the midst of a four-night run on NBC's "The Carson Daly Show." After they air, streaming video of each the group's televised performances will be posted at LiveDaily's Silversun Pickups page.
