Limp Bizkit is taking an untraditional approach to promoting the release of its upcoming album, "The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), which is due in stores May 3.
Frontman Fred Durst reportedly has asked Geffen Records to forgo its usual promotion efforts so that he can instead implement a guerilla effort to blanket the streets with mp3s of the album's first single, "The Truth."
Links to some sites that are hosting the mp3 were posted at Limp Bizkit's website as of Tuesday afternoon (4/19).
Singer/songwriter Paul Simon will be honored as a BMI Icon at the performing-rights organization's 53rd Annual Pop Awards, which take place May 17 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. Previous BMI Icons include James Brown, Chuck Berry, Brian Wilson, Van Morrison, Little Richard and Dolly Parton.
Rapper/mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs didn't appear as expected at a Friday (4/15) event at the Aladdin hotel/casino, during which Mayor Oscar Goodman was scheduled to proclaim it "Diddy Day."
"Due to an unfortunate miscommunication, I will not be able to make the anticipated trip to Las Vegas on April 15," Combs said in a statement. "I am flattered the mayor saw fit to honor me with a day and hope to join him soon."
Combs reportedly had been expected to announce plans to develop a new nightclub and other venues inside the Desert Passage mall at the Aladdin, but those plans are apparently on hold.
Singer/songwriter Samantha Stollenwerck will issue her debut album, "Square One?," May 3 on the San Francisco-based indie label In The Pocket Records. She's scheduled to play several dates in the coming weeks, with more to come. Details are on Samantha's website.
