Brooks & Dunn to call it quits
Country duo Brooks & Dunn plan to say goodbye with a tour they're mapping for next year.
"After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it's time to call it a day," Kix Brooks, 54, and Ronnie Dunn, 56, said in a message addressed to their fans, which was posted at their official website. "This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed. ... We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don't believe them, it's just time."
Brooks & Dunn plan to release a new best-of set dubbed "#1's and Then Some" on Sept. 8, and the farewell trek will be dubbed "The Last Rodeo Tour," according to their website.
The duo, whose most recent studio album is 2007's "Cowboy Town," has scored 23 No. 1 hits on the country charts. Among their better-known tracks are "Boot Scootin' Boogie," "Red Dirt Road" and "My Maria."
Except for the year 2000, Brooks & Dunn won the Country Music Association's Vocal Duo of the Year award every year between 1992 and 2006. They took the CMA's Entertainer of the Year award in 1996.
