Bus crash halts Mr. Lif/The Coup tour

The tour bus carrying rap/hip-hop artists Mr. Lif , The Coup , DJ Big Wiz , Metro and friends flipped over and burst into flames today (12/4) about 40 miles outside of San Diego. Miraculously, everyone made it out alive.

The remaining shows on the artists' North American tour, which stretched into February, have been canceled, according to Mr. Lif's website, which said to stay tuned for information regarding the rescheduling of dates.

On his site, Mr. Lif wrote, "The tour bus ran off the road for a 30 foot drop. Everyone is alive, but four need extensive hospitalization and surgery. We appreciate all concern and would like to thank everyone who was planning to attend our shows."

DJ Big Wiz, The Coup's Silk-E and Mr. Lif's merchandise assistant, Zarha, sustained the most serious injuries in the accident, according to a statement on the Definitive Jux label website. Definitive Jux CEO and artist El-P said Wiz shattered his knee cap and broke his nose, Silk-E broke some ribs and Zarha injured her hand and was undergoing surgery.

Besides being roughed up, everyone else came out of the crash relatively unscathed.

All merchandise and equipment on the bus was destroyed in the fire.
