Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven build end-of-year plans
Alt-rock sister acts Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven will continue their recent habit of co-headlining a few dates together late in the year.
The two bands--which share singer/guitarist David Lowery--will kick off the split outing Dec. 27 in San Francisco. Other cities on the three-night jaunt include Petaluma, CA (12/28) and Solana Beach, CA (12/29).
In addition to the co-headline dates, Camper Van Beethoven will play a pair of shows later this month in Chicago (11/21-22), while Cracker looks forward to a Dec. 20 appearance in Los Angeles, and a New Year's Eve gala in Atlanta. Details are below.
Cracker dropped "Greenland," its seventh studio album, and first since 2003's "Countrysides," in the summer of 2006 on the Cooking Vinyl label. The band is "currently doing songwriting for a new album," according to its website.
Camper Van Beethoven's "New Roman Times," which hit stores in late 2004, was the band's first album of all-new material since 1989's "Key Lime Pie." The group officially disbanded in 1990, but reunited in 2002 for a national tour, after which it headed back into the studio. Cracker, Lowery's other project, continued as well.
The Campers celebrated their 25th anniversary earlier this year with a June headlining show at The Fillmore in San Francisco.
