Ailing Celine Dion reschedules missed shows

The North American leg of Celine Dion 's "Taking Chances World Tour" is expected to get back on track tomorrow (11/11) following three postponements.

The superstar was forced to bow out of shows in Minneapolis, Chicago and Indianapolis over the last week-and-a-half because of a respiratory virus, according to tour promoter AEG Live.

"Her doctor stated that despite antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, bronchodilators and mucolytic agents prescribed for her condition, she has continued to worsen and he insists that she refrain from singing for the next five days, in order for her to recover completely," the company said in a statement.

The postponed shows have been rescheduled for mid-December and tickets will be honored on the new dates. The North American leg of the tour, which launched in mid-August, is expected to resume tomorrow (11/11) in St. Louis, MO. The outing still includes US gigs from coast to coast and is set to wrap in mid-February with a three-night stand in Montreal. Since last check, Dion has also added three December shows in Mexico. Details are listed below.

The Canadian songstress is supporting her latest English-language album, "Taking Chances," which surfaced last November and shot to No. 3 on The Billboard 200. The set is Dion's first full-length studio effort since 2003's multi-platinum "One Heart."

The "Taking Chances World Tour" marks the Grammy-winner's return to the road following her five-year residency at Las Vegas' Colosseum at Caesars Palace. More than 3 million fans flocked to Dion's "A New Day" production, which wrapped last December after 723 sold-out performances, according to a press release.

Last year's DVD version of the Sin City spectacular, "A New Day: Live in Las Vegas," includes more than three hours of bonus material in the form of three documentaries.

Dion also recently released two career retrospectives: the single disc "My Love ... Essential Collection" and an expanded, two-disc version of the set titled "My Love ... Ultimate Essential Collection." The single disc comprises 17 of star's biggest hits and the "Ultimate" edition features nine additional songs. Both include the previously unreleased cut "There Comes A Time" and a live recording of "My Love."

Dion has sold close to 200 million records worldwide since her American debut in 1990, according to a press release. Two of her albums, "Falling Into You" and "Let's Talk About Love," have reached RIAA Diamond status in recognition of sales of more than 10 million copies in the US.
