The Charlatans UK come to America
Manchester, England, pop band the Charlatans UK have scheduled a handful of U.S. dates to preview its forthcoming album "Wonderland," due in stores Sept. 10.
The band will perform two nights in Los Angeles, by which lead singer Tim Burgess currently lives, San Francisco, Chicago and New York.
The Charlatans UK, who formed in 1989, scored a hit with "Only One I Know" from its 1990 debut album "Some Friendly" (Beggars Banquet). That album reached No. 1 in the U.K., as did 1995's "The Charlatans" and 1997’s "Tellin’ Stories" (MCA).
According to the record label, Burgess’ recent experiences DJing in Los Angeles inspired "Wonderland," which is heavy with samples and loops. The album was produced by Danny Saber (Marilyn Manson, Black Grape).
